A finales del Siglo XIX el naïve rompió los esquemas de los críticos más ortodoxos por su desconcertante combinación de ingenuidad y falta de academicismo. Con el tiempo, dicho movimiento ha sido asimilado socialmente hasta el punto de empapar otras muchas disciplinas, por ejemplo, el diseño gráfico.
